Parents longing to see their children while doing new movements in preparation for the stage of walking increases day by day. Family are often very happy when they see one of their little children having the ability to stand and sit on his/her own without relying on the others.
Sometimes the child has the ability to sit on his own at the age of between four and seven months old. He also can be able to hold his head steady, especially with the strengthening of the muscles of his body more and more. Then he sits down later.
Other times a child need some sort of support to feel a sense of tranquility and security through helping to him learn and acquire the ability to balance and sit down without getting any help.
In the first five months, the child can sit upright, but with his mother standing at his side and holding his hands to get used to sit alone with time, or by putting some pillows to feel safe and calm.
In general, children are able to sit down when they reach the age of seven or ten months old. But in the case not being able to doing so on their own at this age, it is advisable to visit your doctor to find out the reason behind this delay.
